News:-
The club has been awarded a grant of £1,000 from the Sports Council Wales's Community Chest. This is to be spent entirely on training, to start some club members on the coaching progression, or in the case of current coaches to continue their development. We plan: to get 6 members through the BCU foundation and safety course, and 4 through the White Water Safety and Rescue Course; to see 4 trained (or assessed) as 4* white water river leaders, and 1 assessed as a 4* sea kayaking leader. Achieving those goals should put the club in a much better position to organise regular trips on Grade 2/3 rivers and coastal sea trips.

Pool session:-
We are now running two pool sessions a week. Both are being held at Fitzalan High School. We're experimenting with holding an evening session, aimed at intermediates and better, rather than beginners, on Wednesdays, from 7 to 8pm.

The pool will NOT be open on Saturday 11th April. It will be open on the Saturdays of April 18,25, May 2, AND 9 (correction to an earlier posting), 16, 23, 30, June 6, 13, 20, 27.

Wednesday eve. sessions will be held on April 8, 15, 22 and 29. We'll review the situation again then, as the evenings get lighter.

New pool fees:-
For the first two family members £3 each for one hour, £6 each for two hours (two hours only available if numbers permit. People coming for just the second hour will have priority for that second hour). For 3rd or more family member, fees are halved, i.e £1.50 for 1 hour, £3 for two. Non-members (for a max. of 3 weeks only): £4 an hour.

Dates for the calendar:
Saturdays:
Pool session. Fitzalan High school pool 9.30-11.30 (maybe open a spot earlier) on Saturdays during school term.
Wednesdays:
Pool session. Fitzalan High school pool 19.00-20.00. Thanks to Talc who the WCA arranged to come to us to provide some Freestyle coaching in two recent sessions.

Our beginners go on to paddle in the Alps:

Whether you have just started to canoe or are an experienced canoeist we would welcome you at our small friendly club. Despite the name, we are a Cardiff based kayaking and canoeing club (established in 1983): we do not paddle Dragon Boats! We cater for all ages from 9 to 90.

We hold fun pool sessions but training is offered too by WCA qualified coaches, and, if you join us on our trips on rivers you get the chance to take Star Awards.

We meet every Saturday (except during school holidays) at Fitzalan High School, Lawrenny Avenue, Cardiff.

If you are still in school - below Year 11 - you'll be welcome but Mum or Dad (or both!) must come canoeing too.
