
| Clothing: To be worn: | Ideally: a drysuit or a long john wetsuit worn on top of a thermal vest and swimming costume, covered with a fleece, jumper, or track suit top, all under a cag. Wetsuit boots, or woollen or wet suit socks under old Velcro or strap-closing trainers. |
| Alternatives: Upper body: Any fleece or fibrepile type of vests/shirts/jumpers or woollen equivalents but not cotton T-shirts or similar (they are cold when wet). All worn under a windproof jacket, e.g. cagoule. Legs: Track suit trousers or any other sort of trouser but not cotton jeans (cold and heavy when wet). Swimming costume under everything. Feet: not wellies, but any sort of sock under any other sort of shoe. (Remember though they will get very wet). Laces must be tucked in. Optional: to protect hands from wind and cold and still be able to feel and grip the paddle firmly - Marigold washing-up gloves. |

| Clothing:To be carried as spare clothing: | minimum of jumper/fleece and vest. |
| First Aid kit: | A minimum of waterproof plasters in case of blisters. |
| Food: | optional, unless we've agreed we'll be stopping halfway for lunch (usually on beginners trips only, in the summer Essential: hot drinks in thermos flasks. |
| Other equipment: | Paddlers will need waterproof containers to fit in the back of the kayak to carry food, first aid kit and spare clothing. Some members may have spare containers. Ask around at the pool session if you need to borrow something. |
| After the trip: | All club equipment borrowed will need to be washed down and returned to the pool by the following Saturday. |
